Luigi es Profesor Titular de Organización de Empresas. Su investigación se centra en la Dirección Estratégica de Recursos Humanos, con especial referencia a la relación entre prácticas de recursos humanos y desempeño organizacional y a la implementación de prácticas de recursos humanos. Ha publicado artículos sobre estos temas, tanto en revistas nacionales como internacionales. Participa regularmente en conferencias internacionales, donde ha recibido premios por la calidad de sus contribuciones. Ejerce habitualmente como revisor anónimo para varias revistas académicas, tales como Human RelationsHuman  Resource Management Journal y The International Journal of Human Resource Management. Además, en la actualidad trabaja como Jefe de Estudios del Master in Human Resources Management de la Universidad Carlos III de Madrid e imparte clases sobre Estrategia de Recursos Humanos y Gestión del Desempeño en varios programas de postgrado en Europa y Latinoamérica. En el Programa DOCENTIA-UC3M 2020 ha obtenido una puntuación total de 93,72 sobre 100, lo que supone una valoración de la actividad docente de EXCELENTE+ (la más alta posible, obtenida por el 18% del profesorado evaluado).
