On March 30th took place the 1st Spanish Innovation Index (ÍEI) conference in which the University Carlos III of Madrid presented the ranking of the most innovative companies from the consumers' perspective. This work is led by professors Lola Duque and Lluís Santamaría, from INDEM, and has the collaboration of the consulting firm Neovantas. The event was chaired by Juan José Vaquero, vice-rector of Scientific Policy at UC3M; Ignacio García Fenoll, general deputy director of Innovation Coordination at the Ministry of Science and Innovation; Rosa Rodríguez, dean of School of Social Sciences and Law at UC3M; Juan Manuel García, director of the Department of Business Administration at UC3M and José Luis Cortina, president of Neovantas.  

Professors Lluís Santamaría and Lola Duque gave a presentation on the research behind the ÍEI, followed by the guest speaker, Professor Tor W. Andreassen, from the Norwegian School of Economics, who gave a talk on modern value creation taking into account the ongoing research with the partner universities of the innovation index (Hanken School of Economics in Finland, Karlstad Business School in Sweden, Aarhus Business School in Denmark, Hasselt Business School in Belgium, Gabelli School of Business -Fordham- in the United States and Queensland School of Business in Australia).

The innovation awards were then granted to the most innovative companies by sector according to the Commercial Innovation Index, the most innovative companies both globally and from Spain, and an honorable mention was also awarded. The event closed with the panel of the winning Spanish companies in the three innovation indexes: Zara (commercial), Balay (social) and Cabify (digital). This panel was moderated by Juan de Rus, director of Neovantas and adjunct professor at UC3M, and Lola Duque.
