XV International Accounting Research Symposium

The Symposium is addressed to PhD students, early stage faculty and researchers in Accounting and Finance. It represents a unique opportunity to attend lectures by expert faculty, and also, to interact with colleagues and receive feedback both on developed (papers) and developing projects (early stage ideas).

This XIV edition is organized by INDEM (Universidad Carlos III de Madrid) in collaboration with the Ramón Areces Foundation and the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid. The Symposium is directed by Prof. Leandro Cañibano and coordinated by Prof. Beatriz García Osma. International experts participate in the symposium, to discuss the latest developments in the main areas of contemporary accounting research, including: Capital Markets, Corporate Governance, International Accounting and Management Accounting Research.

Participant Presentations

We will host 2 sessions dedicated to participant's presentations (Tips for presenting your research: [DOC1]). There will be four student sessions in total.

Registration, scholarship and fees


Registration is free of charge and open until May 25, 2019. The Ramon Areces Foundation offers up to 10 scholarships to assist participants with travel and accommodation expenses, up to a maximum of 300 euros each. To register, please e-mail  conference_business@uc3m.es

If you apply for a scholarship, you must forward us the following data:

  • Name, Surname and University
  • Short CV
  • Letter addressed to the Director of the Foundation motivating the need for funds

Call for papers 


Indeed, the Symposium is structured around a number of lectures by leading experts in the field, who will discuss the most recent developments in the area.

However, there will be opportunities for a reduced number of presentations, particularly on topics linked to the areas discussed by the Faculty. Participants can therefore submit their papers/proposals for presentation at the symposium. Papers linked to the areas discussed by the speakers and by early stage researchers will be given preference. There will be two sessions dedicated to participant's presentations, both chaired by Prof. William Rees. These sessions will be attended by Faculty from the Symposium as well as from Faculty by the organizers: Universidad Carlos III de Madrid and Universidad Autónoma de Madrid.
