The
\n Madrid Work & Organizations Symposium is an annual event
\nco-organized by IE Business School, IESE Business School, and
\nUniversidad Carlos III de Madrid. The aim of the Symposia is to invite
\ntop academic speakers who work in the area of human resources to present
\n their own research. The Symposia wish to bring together scholars with
\ndifferent disciplinary backgrounds, such as economics, psychology and
\nsociology, as well as researchers with multidisciplinary backgrounds.<\/p>\n

The second Symposium will take place on October 5 at Carlos III’s campus in Getafe. The speakers will be Matthew Bidwell<\/a> (Wharton), Takao Kato<\/a> (Colgate University), and Margaret Ormiston<\/a> (London Business School)<\/p>\n

Matthew Bidwell<\/a>
\n is mainly interested in the increasing market-orientation of HR
\nmanagement practices and his research pays attention to topics such as
\noutsourcing and inter-organizational careers. Takao Kato<\/a> is an economist who has extensively studied \u00abhigh-performance\u00bb work practices and international industrial relations. Margaret Ormiston<\/a>
\n does research in OB and has mostly studied top management teams’
\nethical behavior, using innovate data gathering and analysis techniques.<\/p>\n
