The
Madrid Work & Organizations Symposium is an annual event
co-organized by IE Business School, IESE Business School, and
Universidad Carlos III de Madrid. The aim of the Symposia is to invite
top academic speakers who work in the area of human resources to present
their own research. The Symposia wish to bring together scholars with
different disciplinary backgrounds, such as economics, psychology and
sociology, as well as researchers with multidisciplinary backgrounds.
The second Symposium will take place on October 5 at Carlos III’s campus in Getafe. The speakers will be Matthew Bidwell (Wharton), Takao Kato (Colgate University), and Margaret Ormiston (London Business School)
Matthew Bidwell
is mainly interested in the increasing market-orientation of HR
management practices and his research pays attention to topics such as
outsourcing and inter-organizational careers. Takao Kato is an economist who has extensively studied «high-performance» work practices and international industrial relations. Margaret Ormiston
does research in OB and has mostly studied top management teams’
ethical behavior, using innovate data gathering and analysis techniques.
